I couldn’t stop laughing when I heard Jason saying the cost of living in America was zero by living in a tent on the street and walking into a shop to grab anything you need

I lived in NYC over 20 years and it has turned into Gotham City (this is what the press calls NYC now). I used to worry about being shoved into the train tracks, a game called "knock-out" punch when a gang member tries to knock a random person out with one punch and a serial killer who has been increasing body counts but evading police. This was pre-pandemic during "safer" time's. Now, there are shootings and random assaults everywhere. Anyway, I moved out along with thousands (mass migration of out NYC) and moved to a smaller city. While this city doesn't have the crime of NYC, everyone that I know in this building has had their catalytic converter sawed off and stolen from their cars (parked behind a gate within a building). So yes, crime is a problem and unfortunately, there is no Batman for Gotham City or any other city in the US.

I lived myself in China (Shanghai) for 3 years, and it was absolutely gorgeous. But you have to be fair: there are occasionally workers sleeping on the street - at least I saw some in Shanghai during the summer heat. But - of course - it's totally different from homeless people in Europe (I'm a German) or the US: they just use the heat of the summer in order to be able to save some money, even if a overnight stay would cost them almost nothing. But they are so diligent, that they even try to avoid those costs, in order to save money even faster. They are decent people, no alcoholics, normal hard working, content people.

We live in the US. I'm White and my wife and 2 daughters are Chinese.
With the ever increasing wave of hate and violence toward Chinese and Asians, I have a license to “conceal carry” a gun in order to protect my family. It’s far more common than one thinks.
For about 3 months during COVID 2020, Asian's were the largest population buying firearms and ammunition in the US.
A number of our Chinese friends have guns, some with more than one. Checking some WeChat groups here, owning firearms in the Asian community is no longer considered taboo, but something that is becoming a “norm”.
But compared with many Americans, Asians typically do not shout to the world, guess what, I own a “bunch of guns”. :-)
[In America you might need more than 1 gun for protection depending on the area of the country you live and level of violence. A pistol to carry, a separate more powerful one in your car or truck (called a truck gun, semi-auto short barrel rifle, multiple 30 round magazines), and one or more with different capabilities to cover various kinds of attacks at home such as a shotgun and semi-auto short barrel rifle. A minimum of 500 rounds of ammo just in case. Preferably more. Plus you have to have hearing protection so you don’t severely damage you and your family members hearing.]
Quite a time in America and it's only getting worse. If there is open hostiles between the US, UK, EU against China, China hatred will be massive and the safety of many Asians will be in question.
We could be at a point in American history that hate and violence against Asians is the highest since the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 baring Chinese immigration, and the Page Act of 1875 baring immigrant of Chinese women.
Chinese are the only ethnic group totally banned from immigrating to the US in its history.
And it wasn’t UNTIL The “Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965”, when these measures were overcome. So racism against Asians, particularly Chinese has always been part of American society.
This dark side of American history is hidden and not taught in the public schools and universities.
We don’t expect any support from the government, so essentially we're on our own to survive.
—————————————
THE CHINESE EXCLUSION ACT OF 1882
The Chinese Exclusion Act was a United States federal law signed by President Chester A. Arthur on May 6, 1882, prohibiting all immigration of Chinese laborers for 10 years. The law excluded merchants, teachers, students, travelers, and diplomats.[1] Building on the earlier Page Act of 1875, which banned Chinese women from migrating to the United States, the Chinese Exclusion Act was the only law ever implemented to prevent all members of a specific ethnic or national group from immigrating to the United States.
Passage of the law was preceded by growing anti-Chinese sentiment and anti-Chinese violence, as well as various policies targeting Chinese migrants.[2] The act followed the Angell Treaty of 1880, a set of revisions to the U.S.–China Burlingame Treaty of 1868 that allowed the U.S. to suspend Chinese immigration. The act was initially intended to last for 10 years, but was renewed and strengthened in 1892 with the Geary Act and made permanent in 1902. These laws attempted to stop all Chinese immigration into the United States for ten years, with exceptions for diplomats, teachers, students, merchants, and travelers. They were widely evaded.
The law remained in force until the passage of the Magnuson Act in 1943, which repealed the exclusion and allowed 105 Chinese immigrants to enter the United States each year. Chinese immigration later increased with the passage of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, which abolished direct racial barriers, and later by the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, which abolished the National Origins Formula.

Even in a city in a poor province in China, you can fish in the river and the streets are free of rubbish. In the west those rivers would have shopping trolleys and bicycles. You have clean air and parks that can put many western cities to shame.

yes, Paradise is indeed China , I know, I was a regular visitor till the CoVID . I can even walk along the streets in China after 11pm safely, food galore in China, no problems. I am 67 ,been to China 15 times , still climbing mountains and walking miles on end in China no problem. No pollution, except occasionally the sandstorms in North China. In Shanghai, the sky is mostly crystal clear. People, you don't have to believe me , just go China , see it for yourself.
Don't forget to visit historical Xian, Beijing, Huangshan mountain, ancient capital Nanjing ( Nanking), Hangchou and North Xinjiang .

Met a young Uygur girl (late teens early 20's) yesterday, coming out of a mall where I live. Been in Canada 8 months. She passed me by, as she was walking faster than me. She turned around and apologized, "Sorry! Very Sorry!!" Amazing. Once we got talking, she was very friendly. Like Jason has always said about the Chinese. Was a magical few moments while we walked together, before our paths diverted. An old dedushka and a Uygur traveler.
That's the wonder of having channels like yours, which give a window on a world I would never have otherwise seen or experienced. From Russia, China, Ukraine, Greece, Cyprus, Africa and anywhere in the World. I can imagine what the future has for us, with immersive technology. The Fantasy World that Lincoln has to look forward to.

First, congratulations to Jason for your series of wonderful vlog showing the real China. My favorite is that amazing subway. In this time when it is hard for outsiders to enter China the video is most appreciated. So happy to see your family again.
The reason why Jason and so many others online are always comparing America and China is simple: American is declining fast, going to hit bottom. China rise is accelerating even after being hit time again by America, going to hit top. America is hell-bent want to be on top, scare stiff of hitting bottom. China have hit bottom in the 20th century (and indeed quite a few time in its long history), it wants to successful again. Well, won't you?
These two countries make up the MEGATREND of the 21st century. By definition, nobody can change megatrend. The megatrend for America is called the Fourth Turning - a historical cycle of success/failure in a 80 year cycle. 2022 is that 80th year called Crisis. This cycle has run for several centuries, always accurate, unstoppable. America decline will hit bottom, and stay bottom to the year 2040 - 2050.
The megatrend of China is its long history of Celestrial-Dynastic cycle. The last dynasty began to run into trouble by 1800. After 50 years of unsuccessful struggle, invasion by the British, by Europe, by Japan followed during the next 150 years. Hit bottom. After WW2 China began to re-invent itself. After 50 years the path to success emerged. Therefore, to complete China's grand cycle, a 150 years of prosperity, power and achievements will emerge. This bring current China trend to the year 2200.
In the year 2200, there will be a China. The chance of there will be a U.S.A. is near zero. And sorry, Jason, UK will be long gone.

I visited San Francisco in 2019, my aunt and me were shopping, so we bought some goodies from a mall, then we went to a walmart and my aunt said "hide the goodies in the car otherwise the thugs will rob us", I was like "No way, are you kidding?".
Some days later I was in a restaurant, it was at night, some customers were heading out but found out their car window broken and the goodies in their car stolen.

The police watching the theft go on is inexcusable, their lack of enforcement encourages more crime. The tent villages are also a problem in Toronto due to the cost of housing.
I don't want to hurt Canadas reputation but it would really shock foreigners/investors to learn that we have plain clothed police in Canada who actually commit crimes such as those shown in this video, it's used to increase their budgets and "manufacture threats"
This has drastically hurt our nation and global competitiveness. While we spend money on dishonest domestic police forces in Toronto, Durham Region Peel Region and elsewhere, China spends money on improving their streets, building new infrastructure and funding innovation. This HELPS their nation succeed and it's why I've said from some time that coupled with Chinas focus on education, eliminating corruption and attracting top talent, China is going to prevail.
I highly advise China to not follow in our footsteps and to hold abusers of power accountable.

The reason behind this, I think, is the American jail houses are always full. Crimes like those shown in the clips are regarded as petty theft so no one is required to be locked up behind bars. And the law in California even allows the criminals to go free if the loot is not more than $500(?) or something.
PS your baby is beautiful and very smart.

We're so happy to see Jason's family
'I'll try to make a long story short. Especially for people wondering about NY city Grand Central Station levels of tracks we almost never hear of.
My father was with the NY city Rail Road = the Metro North division. This was 10+ years ago, at Grand Central Station, Complicated old system to work around.
He had to work, 1st year at various electrical power houses, some in our Northern County and NY city was worse.
The Grand Central Station has more levels of Rail road tracks below (5, 7 levels, some areas could have more?) More than most people realize.
Many mysterious stories still happen, even phenomenon cryptic creatures the police won't go to.
The TV news did a report years ago about types of mysterious real things, but the show only had 1 hour to cover it all of Grand Central.
Even the street level, way in back alley of the Grand Central Station, has weird activities over the years. So he's heard.
In the rear alley for service companies, the elevator goes
down
down
down to 600 feet below.
Way down to the substructure power station Sulpplying - 12,000 to 15,000 Volts, that goes into the "3rd Rail" for cleaner electric trains.
(Plus some smokey diesel locomotives are needed a few times a day to ensure emergency readiness for power black outs which do happen).
The unexpected crimes happen a little more as you can search results.
NY city violent crimes results are higher than many people think
The funny thing I saw, was my Dad's reaction to a big "cat"? Laying on the car hood, in the dark work area alley, it was enough room to park a few cars. (I had to bring him a few health-related meals better than the expensive foods at the time and less healthy.. especially for unexpected longer shifts.)
He tapped the hood of our car, "Shoo, get away"
It was Cat ??
A big Hissing Noise, .. from a "monster rat bigger than most cats! We ran fast into the elevator, very fast, haha
But the train tracks seem to invite dangers of some people's imagination and sadly people need to be always aware around train and Subways stations.
Honestly it's not safe. We need to modernize our systems with many more "public cameras" to raise averages of people's behavior.
This proves to help and works in various countries to help people's consciousness to be on best behavior as if Mom and Dad are making sure things are safe
Safety First Always
Good Luck To Everyone

Hi Jason: Is there any chance to make a video or two (or three?) on the healthcare system in China? I am very curious about this subject and am sure others may be interested too. How is it organized, what is the quality of care, is it timely, how is it paid, are medications affordable and readily available, etc. I am also interested in traditional/alternative medicine: How extensively it is used, does it intertwine with modern medicine. Fascinating subject.
