"She joined her school constitution team because she think she needed to practtice her speech and the coach in the team is an interviewer for Harvard, even though she did not like the law(she said the law is too dirty and heartless)."
Liang's comments:
"Dirty" and "heartless" are words that I rarely hear attributed to law. I wonder what sort of "law" she is talking about. If she is talking about the justice system, not only of the US, but of civilized society, then she is showing her lack of faith in an essential institution of that society. Laws are created by men and are to be executed by a government--with the consent of the governed--upon those who decide to cross the bounds of society. Whether that be theft, assault, murder, or slander, it does not matter. "Law" is built in society to govern and to protect. As for the Constitution team, I wonder how can someone call such a document "heartless?" If so, then the same "heartless" document has kept the American government stable through the federal system, kept the states united under one flag, and has been flexible enough to adapt to the changes that come with time.
It is right to question the law for the sake of evaluating it and to make it more just for all people. In fact, this can even be considered as our civic duty. Sometimes law does not mean justice, but during these times society needs those who have the faith and the determination to make things otherwise. (Service)
If one does not have faith in the law, one loses faith in society. Without faith in society, how can one truly serve it?
As in medicine and any profession, one needs integrity. Integrity cannot be if one does not have the faith to strive for "equal justice under law"--inscribed over the entrance to the United States Supreme Court

这只是他的就一个问题的一点看法。也许片面。但我想应该鼓励孩子的独立思考的能力,并勇于表达自己的看法。才能做到不人云亦云。
