生命之树 - 健康生活

Health is represented by the colour of green. It means life, vitality and energy!

A healthy life means both physically, mentally, and socially healthy.

Health can easily be ignored by people.

About 10% of people in the US or Canada have diabetes;

About 20% of people in the US or Canada have mental health issues;

And less than 50% of marriages in the US or Canada are healthy and happy.

Health is the corner stone of a happy, satisfying, and purposeful life.

A healthy life means both physically, mentally, and socially healthy. These 3 aspects of health are interconnected, any change of one will affect all the others.

To live a healthy life, the most important thing is to build good health habits, which can also improve longevity and overall life quality.

Physical Health:

Physical health refers to a healthy body. We have self-repair systems, which can help keep us healthy. However, bad health habits can destroy those systems and make us vulnerable to diseases.

There are a couple of things to build good habits.

1. Healthy eating: 50% of your health comes from eating healthy food. You need to eat balanced meals with low sodium, sugar and saturated fat.

2. Adequate drinking: Drink 2 liters of water.

3. Regular exercise: Get at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity spread out during the course of a week.

4. Good rest: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. Rest at least 10 minutes for 1 hour of work, study or screen time.

5. Workplace and environmental safety: Many diseases are caused by environmental factors, like insect biting, work injuries, or exposed to extreme weathers.

Mental Health:

Mental health refers to a healthy mind. Mental health is closely related to our physical health.

There are a couple of things to build good habits.

1. Manage stress and negative emotions.

Stress and negative emotions are very common to people but can be destructive to our life.

Some common causes include health issues, financial problems, relationship or parenting problems, etc.

2. Practice yoga and meditation regularly.

Yoga and meditation may significantly reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and pain; also help you get into a deep enjoyment and achieve a long-term happiness.

Social Health:

Social health refers to a healthy social relationship. Relationship issues can cause many problems in life.

There are a couple of things to build good habits.

1. Maintain good relationship with your spouse.

You need to express your love beyond physical intimacy, and agree to invest time, energy, and effort into your relationship.

2. Practice good parenting.

You need to show plenty of love and affection, and enforce reasonable rules and consequences.
