I read two articles written by Peg Quann about election on ‘ Bucks County Herald’ October 3, 2024. Barbara gave me the newspaper.
1.   ‘Vance fires up Republicans about border, economy in Newton Twp.’
The gloomy drizzle outside didn’t dampen the spirits of the 1,500 people inside the Newtown Sports & Events Center Saturday as they welcomed Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance to Bucks County.
One of the people, Chuck Shields. He wore a supersize “ Make America Great Again” cap, said: “ We need to have a better country....”
Vance, who came onstage around 5:30pm, with wife Usha.
He criticized Kamala Harris’s handling of the illegal immigrant crisis at the Southern border as well as the economy.
“We spent $200 billion on Ukraine,”  Vance told the crowd. Trump is “ candidate of pease.”
Shifting to immigration, Vance said that what’s going on at the border is affecting the availability of housing for American citizens and contributing to the fentanyl crisis and the need for more police.
“ we are going to building the wall, we’re going to go to war with the Mexican drug cartels.” said Vance.
Vance said his priority would be to see young adults have the hope of buying a home.
Linda Ennis, of Langhome, said she thought Vance’s speech was good, but should have focused more on what specifically the Republicans would do to fix the border crisis and the economy.

2). ‘Parties agree: No one should vandalize campaign signs’

They’re hard to miss, the political signs that dot the Bucks County countryside this presidential election year. That makes them easy targets for vandals.
In Upper Makefield, a sign for the campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris, was run over and another Democratic sign was replaced with a sign for formal President Donald Trump.
“ It’s intimidating for the homeowner,” said Cathy Romano, who chairs Upper Makefield Democratic Committee, “ It’s threatening sometimes. We’ve been trying to stop it.”
Pat Poprik, chair of the Bucks County Republican Committee, said the GOP signs also have been knocked over, defaced and broken.
“ We strongly don’t approve or condone that type of action,” she said.
Two other incidents in Lower Makefield this month included a Trump sign being defaced a swastika and a word “ felon” and another Trump sign being knocked over.
Lower Makefield Police Chief Kenneth Coluzzi said that persons caught damaging signs can face a summary offense of criminal trespass and vandalism....
Jam Worthington, who spent $35,000 on large signs in support of President Trump’s campaign, said: “ Everybody has the right to what he believe in.”
When people disagree with a political sign, Lisa Von Deylon the store manager, said: “ just keep walking,”. “It’s a basic First Amendment right,”for the person who put up the sign on their property.
Bucks County Commissioner Bob Harvie said: “ We cannot be the greatest nation on Earth if we can’t tolerate seeing an opponent’s yard signs.”

3)(A) I am glad that I participated in the election voting this year. I ballot my vote in advance by mail.
I voted for the Republican candidate Donald Trump in the presidential election。
I came to the United States in 2016, and during the four years of Trump's presidency, I think he has worked very hard to make America stronger. There was economic development and no war. After 2020, there was a lot of criticism against him personally, thought he was a criminal, and even someone assassinated him, but he is still staunch . I thought he was more capable than Harris, so I voted for him。
I voted for the Democratic candidate  Eleanor in the state Senate election.
Because she came to our community room to talk with us twice, and each time she was standing and we were sitting. She shook hands with me, took photos with me. I feel she is very approachable.
There were five other elections that I abstain because I wasn't familiar with the candidates 。
In all my years in China, I have never voted for anything, and I have never known any representative of the people.
(B) I have received a lot of pro-Trump literature, and there are pro-Harris signs in my neighbor's property . I also heard one neighbor ask another neighbor, “Why you trust Trump?”
No vandalize campaign signs or clashes around us.
