英语的双重否定

好久没有谈英文了，今天想讲讲双重否定，为什么要讲这个，你懂的! 双重否定是个比较拗口的说法，中文里面用不用呢？让俺想想，我不觉得我今天没有吃晚饭，I don't think that I didn't have dinner today.  双重否定就是肯定的意思，所以上面这一句的意思是我今天吃过饭，这样既简单又好懂，不像双重否定那样，有点脱裤子放屁的感觉。

英文里的双重句子同样拗口。比如川普说他说昨天那句话时，把双重否定给忘了，当时说的是：I have President Putin; he just said it's not Russia," Trump said. "I will say this: I don't see any reason why it would be （Russia）“。按他今天的说法当时是想说： I have President Putin; he just said it's not Russia," Trump said. "I will say this: I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be （Russia）"。哈哈，狡猾的家伙，越来越像政客了，好的不学，学人家脱裤子放屁。

川普这么说，马上有人鹦鹉学舌了。看看吧：

I don't see any reason that there wouldn't be collusions.

I cannot believe that it's not butter.

Don't make America not great again!

小笑话：

A linguistics professor was lecturing to his class one day. "In English," he said, "a double negative forms a positive. In some languages though, such as Russian, a double negative is still a negative.

However," he pointed out, "there is no language wherein a double positive can form a negative."

A voice from the back of the room piped up, "Yeah, right."

这个笑话有两点要指出：

一，笑话的punchline是“yeah，right”，一般折磨说的时候是有点讽刺意味，表面是同意，实际上是不同意，教授刚说了两个肯定不能成为一个否定，学生说“yeah，right”虽然是两个肯定，但却是否定的意思。

二，川普今天用Double Negative表示否定，但在俄国double negative仍然是否定。What a coindidence!
