南加一年四季阳光灿烂，山谷众多，是户外活动的黄金地带。两年前，我们这支大多由空巢父母组成的队伍应运而生，相约周六早上6：30集合于trail head，进行我们每周一次3-4小时，6-10英里的徒步登山。两年来，我们的足迹踏遍了当地的大小山谷，我们的目光领略了各处辽阔的山峦；我们迎着晨曦，走在山丘，看层峦叠嶂；我们沿着山脊, 走到海边，看海上的风帆和卷起的白浪。我们徜徉在蓝天白云下，享受着山风的吹拂，阳光的抚慰，一路谈笑风生。虽然大多数时候，山是秃的，草是枯的，路是一成不变的，然而我们还是发现着美，欣赏着美，记录着美。鸟儿，鹿儿，花儿是我们记录中的常客，今日的直升机救人却还是头一回亲眼所见......

Living in southern CA, we are blessed with the year-round sunny weather. Whether you a casual hiker or an avid outdoor goer, you will find many well-maintained hiking trails, acres upon acres of wild land in the valleys, within a short distance of drive. Two years ago, when our kids left us for colleges, the so-called “empty nest” parents formed a hiking team, getting together for a hike of 3 to 4 hours, a distance of 6 to 10 miles every Saturday morning. While spring is the best season, when grass in the mountain finally turns green after the shortfall of winter rains and the wild flowers bloom vigorously, we are actually enjoying every season, with eagles circling high above in blue sky and wind rustling from the valley. What the rustic wilderness brings us are not just the scene, but more a relaxation and joy of walking in the misty mornings or sweating in the beaming sun. Occasionally we witness something new, like today, when a helicopter searched for more than half an hour in an attempt to rescue an injured hiker in the Red Rock Canyon.

直升机在山谷里盘旋了半个多小时

终于找到目标所在地，是Red Rock Canyon 处(下图)。

又过了二三十分钟，远远看见直升机上的救护人员从机上吊了下来......

当我们十点左右离开时，直升机还在忙碌地轰隆着，回来的路上看到的一辆救火车，一辆公园巡警(park ranger)车就地待命。希望受伤者很快得到救护。
