最近,西门子基金会公布了去年的全美AP考试的西门子奖获得者的名单。AP的满分为5分,西门子奖励最多门AP考试为满分的学生,毎州二名,一名男生,一名女生,奖金为每人二千美元。另外还会选出二名全国性的Winners,奖金为毎人五千美元。这一奖项不是通过申请决定的,而是依据负责AP考试的College Board向西子门基金会提供的学生的AP成绩。
由于西门子为科技公司,设立此奖项的目的是为了鼓励学生学习数理相关的AP课程。西门子奖励的AP考试课目包括:Biology, Calculus BC, Chemistry, Computer Science A, Environmental Science, Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, Physics C: Mechanics, and Statistics。 大家看到二门AP的物理都包括在内,而二门的微积分或二门的计算机则仅含一门。
至少有二门AP是5分的学生才有资格被考虑,教育发达的加州和纽约应该竞争激烈,然而,蒙他那州是唯一的只有一名学生符合此最低标准的州,还是一位华裔男孩。随使数数,东亚姓氏的学生就占了大约一半。
