One has only one childhood.
Mine is just as valuable and memorable as yours to you. When I talk truthfully about my upbringing on Beijing army base, most likely I get resentment reactions from my fellow members, who would acuse me for bragging or worse.
The truth of the matter is that when you grow up with something, you take it for granted and never second guess the uniqueness about it. I didn't realize we were not "normal " kids until I started writing at WXC.
In real life, I either hang out closely with people who have similar backgrounds or Americans who can't differentiate one way or the other anyways, haha...Fourthermore, other Chinese friends are not likely to tell me off to my face. So coming here offers me another opportunity to take a look of my own life.
Please remember if you are a successful top professional, your children will have my experience later on when they talk about their childhood, haha.
So please be kind to me. Please allow me to treasure my precious childhood and express myself without any hesitation once in a while.
