The Erection Index is an economic index
Markets crash at the time the plans for the tallest building are announced or soon after.
This is likely related to the large amount of money available for commerce at business cycle peaks.

The Singer Building, completed in 1908, and the Metropolitan Life Building, completed in 1909, - Panic of 1907.
40 Wall Street, the Chrysler Building, and the Empire State Building were all built between 1929 and 1931 and the Metropolitan Life North Building was left incomplete at 29 of 100 planned floors in 1933, all near the start of the
Great Depression which went from 1929 until the late 1930s.
The twin towers of the New York City World Trade Center were completed between 1972 and 1974 and the Sears Tower was completed in 1973, both in time for the recession that followed the 1973 Oil Crisis.
The Petrons Twin Towers were completed 1998 in time for the Asian Financial crisis which started in late 1997.

The Shanghai World Financial Center is completed on 2007, Burj Dubai : the world\'s tallest building build from 2004 to 2009, contributed to the recent world wide recession.
