2006 (115)
2007 (59)
2008 (51)
Olivia received her first official academic award of excellence and it is from her Chinese school. It says “During the school year of 2005 to 2006, Kindergarten Class A student Olivia studied hard and excelled in her performance. We wish she continues her effort and achieves greater accomplishment in the future.”
I know how hard it is for her to study Chinese compared to the rest of her class. All her classmates have a stronger Chinese background than her. She is the only mixture left who did not transfer to the dual language class.
I expected her to get frustrated and develop resentment. But she has been working hard and with the effort of both of us (I stayed with her through almost all her classes), she carried it through until now.
To me, her not developing resentment in learning the language is our biggest accomplishment. I know she probably does not know as many Chinese words as her classmates but I am very proud of what she has accomplished so far.
Congratulations, Olivia!
