I had this idea of starting a journal for Olivia about four years ago when she started talking a lot. She would say funny things or make funny mistakes all the time on our way home from daycare almost everyday and it was the happiest time of my day.
Unfortunately for a new mom like me whose hubby had a long commute to work everyday in another state, I was pretty overwhelmed just juggling between work, daycare, cooking, bathing the kid and minimum cleaning. Think about it now, jotting down a couple of sentences at a time really does not take that much work. But at the time it seemed to be such a big project that I just did not think I could take on even though every time she said something which made me laugh, the journal idea would flash through my mind (Sorry, sweetie pie).
Now Evan starts to talk a lot (thank goddness, finally), since it is better late than never, I decide to start a blog which I know nothing about and try to capture some precious moments of their lives before I forget everything (my memory decreased by square root after the birth of each one of them, seriously).
Even though it is lot easier to write and express my feelings in Chinese, I decided to write everything in English so that they can read themselves in the future and do not need me to translate.
I do not think it is realistic for me to expect them to be able to read Chinese just because they can recite some 儿歌 right now even though I really wish they are bilingual. Both of them went into daycare and spent 10 hours there everyday since they were 8 months old, but I know, that is not an excuse...guilty as charged.
Writing in English can be challenging but I am going to give my best shot to record some of their little foot steps. Hopefully 这两个小东西 will enjoy reading it someday and know that their mommy love them from the bottom of her heart.
I read the whole thing and was moved to tears a couple times already! Keep going:)
