H402: Quality of life self-evaluation
The brief version of the World Health Organization Quality of Life Instruments (WHOQOL-BREF) is designed to measure an adult's perception of their quality of life. The full version has 100 questions while the brief version only has 26 questions. So the brief version is much easier to evaluate one's quality of life.
The WHOQOL-BREF was developed by an international consortium of scholars known as The WHOQOL Group. This group operated from field centers located in 15 countries to develop a survey that aimed to be cross-culturally relevant to quality of life. There is an online version of the WHOQOL-BREF, which is very convenient to use.
Here is a brief instruction of how to best use this self-evaluation.
The WHOQOL-BREF measures quality of life across 4 domains (Physical Health, Psychological, Social Relationships, and Environment). So it can help evaluate both physical, mental and social health status.
The online version is self-explained very well. You just need to select a best answer for each question according to your actual perception. Your scores will be automatically shown in both visual graph and numbers on top of the page.
The scoring for physical health includes the following questions: Q3, Q4, Q10, Q15, Q16, Q17 and Q18. If you have a physical health score less than 75, you may look at each related question to determine how to improve your physical health.
The scoring for psychological includes the following questions: Q5, Q6, Q7, Q11, Q19 and Q26. If you have a psychological score less than 75, you may look at each related question to determine how to improve your mental health.
The scoring for social relationships includes the following questions: Q20, Q21 and Q22. If you have a social relationships score less than 75, you may look at each related question to determine how to improve your social health.
The scoring for environment includes the following questions: Q8, Q9, Q12, Q13, Q14, Q23, Q24 and Q25. If you have environment score less than 75, you may look at each related question to determine how to improve your environment for better health.
After you finish the self-evaluation, you can download the PDF version of the result by clicking the button "Click here to download a completed PDF report". You can do this self-evaluation each year, and compare with the previous results (previous downloaded PDF reports) to see if there are any improvements for your health each year, and have a better planning of how to improve your quality of life.
