Ding Henian
“Lamenting the Departed”
When we parted, you were as beautiful as a piece of jade,
When I returned, we are separated: one dead and one alive.
At sunset, I weep by your lonely tomb,
Your voice and appearance are too faint to be heard and seen.
It is only the grasses that grow on your tomb,
Still bear the color of your silk skirt.
