OWINGS MILLS, Md. Nate Orchard Jersey . -- His voice cracking with emotion, Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice acknowledged Friday that he "failed miserably" and apologized for the actions that led to his arrest on assault charges. Rice was arrested following a Feb. 15 altercation in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in which he allegedly struck fiancee Janay Palmer. The couple married in late February, and both went to the stage at the team training complex for their first public comment since the arrest. "I failed miserably, but I wouldnt call myself a failure because Im working my way back up," he said. Wearing a light grey suit and striped tie, Rice spoke for just over six minutes and didnt take questions. His speech was not prepared, but he often referred to notes on his cellphone. "I know many of my supporters, sponsors, dont want to be in partnership with me. Thats my fault," Rice said. "I take full responsibility for that. One thing I do know is that Im working every day to be a better father, a better husband and just a better role model." Rice was accepted Tuesday into a diversion program, which upon completion could lead to the charges being expunged. "I want you to know Im still the Ray Rice that you know, or used to know, or grown to love," Rice said. "Im still the same guy. As me and Janay wish we could take back 30 seconds of our life, we definitely sit here and tell you that we are better parents, we are better lovers and also better friends." Among those in attendance were Rices mother, Janet, and his father-in-law, Joe Palmer. Rice was only 5 when his father was shot and killed, and he referred to Joe Palmer as the" father I never had." "Thank you for teaching me how to be a man," he told Palmer. "I know it wasnt easy when you saw everything that happened, but I just remember your words: Youll get through it. Those words will always stick with me, because one thing you gave me is trust." The 27-year-old Rice has played six years for the Ravens. He is the teams career leader in total scrimmage yards and ranks behind only Jamal Lewis in total yards rushing. "My job is a very powerful job, and Im blessed to be playing at the highest level of sports," Rice said. "But the job I did was more than scoring touchdowns. It was getting out in the community and helping out. So when this thing happened with me and my wife, one thing I can say is, sometimes in life you will fail." Rice is eager to put this behind him, but its possible that a suspension from the NFL looms ahead. His focus now, however, is clearly on his personal life. "There were a lot of tears shed, but me and Janay can truly say were in a better place," Rice said. "We just hope to one day gain back everyones trust. Were still the same people and Im still the same person." After Rice was done speaking, he turned toward Janay, who enforced the couples united front. "I do deeply regret the role I played in the incident that night," she said. "But I can say that I am happy that we continue to work through it together. I love Ray, and I know that he will continue to prove himself not only to you all, but to the community, and I know he will gain your respect back in due time." On the 10th try of the season the Jets took care of that stat, and did it in fine fashion, beating the Bruins 4-2. The win came after a Thursday 4-3 shootout win in Minnesota. The season series between the Jets and Bruins was split at 2-2 with each team winning their home games. The Jets saw the Bruins out shoot them 13-4 in the opening period, but strong goaltending by Ondrej Pavelec kept the game scoreless. The Jets got the offense going early in the second as Alexander Burmistrov opened the scoring with his 12th of the year and third goal in four games. Jordan Caron tied it and the Bruins followed that up with a power play. But a strong kill by the Jets lead to Blake Wheelers 11th of the season giving the Jets the lead after 40 minutes. Dustin Byfuglien picked up an assist, giving him 2-5-7 in the last five games. Evander Kane also drew an assist, following up on his three point night against the Wild. The Bruins are a very good third period team, as the Jets found out the last time in Boston when they had a one goal lead going into the third but had the Bruins storm back for a win. When David Krejci scored :49 seconds into the third, followed by a Bruins power play, a sold out Jets crowd was on edge. But another strong kill was followed by two Bryan Little goals 2:04 apart. It was Littles third two goal game of the season, giving him five goals in eight games, plus a couple more in the shootout. Wheeler assisted and was instrumental in both goals, giving him his fourth three point night of the season. Wheeler is now 1-5-6 in his last four games. It was a big night for the former Bruin on the eve of his one year anniversary of his trade from Boston to Atlanta. Christian Kirksey Jersey. . "Wheeler played like he wasnt going to be denied." commented Coach Claude Noel post game. Coach Noel also made mention of the strong performance from Pavelec. "To beat a team like Boston you need timely goals and timely saves. The glove save he made on the cross crease pass in the third was huge. Those saves change the game. Wheelers goal after the penalty kill in the second was big, as were the Little goals after the penalty kill. We played with a lot of heart, and in back to back games," in reference to the streak. "We didnt get demoralized after the goal early in the third, and we built momentum off the penalty kill." Noel has talked a great deal about "singular focus." Dont look at the big picture. Ignore the eight game home stand and focus on the task. That message was shown in the first goal by Burmistrov. "He did a good job changing speed, used the "D" as a screen and he does have a good shot. It was a big goal." Coach Noel liked the Little/Ladd/Wheeler line, a night after the Burmistrov/Kane/Wellwood line was the best line. "With Little and Wheeler, there has been no need to split them up this season. And I liked Ladds game tonight." With the win the Jets move closer to eighth place in the conference as well as the top spot in the Southeast. Game two of the home stand is Sunday against Colorado. The game can be seen on TSN Jets, and heard on TSN 1290 at 7:30pm ct/8:30pm et, and then Tuesday against Philadelphia. Jets were again minus Zach Bogosian, who may be ready for Sunday. Jets are now 8-7-1 in the last 16 with 11 of those games on the road. cheap custom jerseys wholesale jerseys store cheap jerseys Cheap Jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '
