immigration is our resources, or immigration strains our resources? Can go either way, depending on how you look at - never gotta a consensus.
The same with Diversity - can go either way. One thing is sure: brain needs different flavors to stimulate for innovation. You can't make much out of homogeneity, proven science, an open system like open water that's healthier than the closed one.
goverining is about team effort, never a solo act. Knowing that, you're subjected to government if you want to be part of society. You can go solo if you stay alone, your choice.

America's diversity is our strength
How is diversity our strength?
It is a popular liberal slogan that "Diversity Is Our Strength," referring to racial and cultural diversity. I am curious as to how exactly this diversity has strengthened our nations? I am curious as to how exactly this diversity has strengthened our nations? As a white American, I can think of a whole lot of negatives it has brought, but not much if anything positive. Surely living in a society with other people who look like you and who you share a common history and culture with is much better than the tensions caused by many clashing cultures and ethnic groups living together? As Abraham Lincoln said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand."
So my question is: how is diversity our strength? The concept of strength in diversity originated in botany. It relates to the ability of an ecosystem to survive the stresses of flood, drought, wildfires, etc. if there are a variety of species represented, some of which are able to endure.
There is no particular advantage to ethnic diversity. It is just a clever catch phrase to encourage people to behave well towards others. Although diversity tests our cultures, our ability to adopt, adapt and improve may strengthen our society. It is not diversity, but our ability of deal with it that builds strength.
Diversity is neither a strength nor a weakness, differences are only differences. It's like saying that because there are different colors, that some are better than others. This isn't true because all of them appeal to certain people, it's merely personal preference.

I don't believe it is. Look at the Middle East; consider India before Pakistan was created, Muslim versus Hindu. How about Bosnia, Christian versus Muslim, how about the old Hapsburg Empire--Austrians, Hungarians, Czechs, Slovaks, Poles, Slovenes, Croats, etc. which completely disintegrated due to ethnic strife.
How about the Thirty Years War between Catholics, Lutherans and Calvinists (today's Presbyterians), and others.
Diverse talents in an individual, yes, but in ethnic and religious groups it is deadly.

This saying is not intended to refer to a nation, but to individuals. If a person has diversity in the educational subjects he has passed, then he has a better choice, and chance of being employed, and of being promoted after that.
If he has diverse intrests in his life, he is more likely to be, and remain content with life, and enjoy his old age.
But, beware of diversity in sexual partners, HIV, and babies wait at every corner.

Diversity is out strength because diversity is strongly associated with creativity, adaptation to new and changing situations/demands and to performance.
At the genetic level, diversity is also associate with much greater health and resistance to disease.
It is pretty ironic that you are quoting Lincoln. Lincoln was talking about hatred of one another. He was in the middle of discussing the NEED For DIVERSITY and INCLUSION across racial lines.
A House divide against itself was spoken to mean that those fighting against diversity were undermining the USA and the goal for all to support all, regardless of race.
PS: "different cultures" does not necessarily mean "clashing cultures."

I'm a white american, too... and are you kidding me?
Black people have made an amazing cultural legacy for America.
First of all, you have to realize that their culture values spontaneity and personal expression. Like I went to an all black church with my white boyfriend and people would spontaneously start singing in the middle of speaking a sermon just because they felt like it. They would start dancing in the middle of the walkway... just because they felt like it. It's a culture that values authenticity over order. (my experience with it at least)
The legacy of jazz, blues, rock & roll, rap, hip hop....
Dancing.... breakdancing is pretty amazing, popping and locking...
Elvis was originally called the Hillbilly Cat... Cat being more of a slang applied to a black person... because rock & roll comes from the blues....
I am a huge Led Zeppelin fan.... but where would Zep be without the blues artists from America? No where!
The black musical legacy is pretty much the best.
Their hot jazz musicians were incredible like pianist Fats Waller, Art Tatum, etc...
I didn't even mention sports yet. Aren't most football players black? Doesn't that contribute to the happiness of the spectators to watch such gifted and dedicated athletes play?
Serena Williams just won the semi-final match at the US Open tonight and she said she was proud to represent America at the US Open in the finals tomorrow.
Variety is the spice of life...
Even Native American's who have not contributed to the mainstream culture as much as the African Americans... do have a beautiful and inspiring culture on their own. I enjoy listening to Native American chanting before I go on runs... I find it inspiring.
I am glad that the United States has so many different cultures.
Oh, yeah, and different food is good, too!
