To promote healthier lifestyles, Medical Clinic recommends the screenings listed below. These guidelines are intended as a tool to assist you and your physician or other provider in evaluating your specific needs.
Adult Women
1. Non-Fasting Cholesterol should be performed every 5 years on women over age 45.
2. Pap Smear should be performed annually until 3 consecutive tests are negative; then test every 1-3 years (women who have had complete hysterectomies may be excluded).
3. Mammography should be performed annually for women age 40 and over (those who have had bilateral mastectomies may be excluded). For women under 40 years of age, a shared decision-making approach should be taken with the physician based on increased risk or physician discretion.
4. All women age 20 and over should perform monthly breast self-exams.
5. All women age 20 to 39 should have clinical breast examination by health care professional every 3 years; and age 40 and up should have annual clinical breast examination by HCF;
6. Fecal Occult Blood Test should be performed annually for women age 50 and over.
7. Influenza Vaccinations should be given annually for women at high risk for complications from influenza and for women age 65 and over.
Adult Men
1. Non-Fasting Cholesterol should be performed every 5 years on men over age 35.
2. Fecal Occult Blood Test should be performed annually for men age 50 and over.
3. Colonoscopy every 10 years or Double-contrast barium enema every 5 years
4. Influenza Vaccinations should be given annually to men at high risk of complications from influenza and for those men age 65 and over.
Both men and women over age 18 should have their blood pressure measured every two years; Tetanus immunization every 10 years at age 25 and over; sigmoidoscopy every 5 years over age 50; and pneumococcal vaccine once at age 65 or older. PSA testing in men is individualized. Children
Height and Weight performed and documented at the following ages: 2 weeks, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, and 18 months; 2 years, 3 years, between 4 and 6 years, and 10 years.
Immunizations
1. DTP or DtaP (Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, or whooping cough) is given at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 18 months, and 4-6 years.
2. DT (Diptheria Tetanus) is given at 14 years (9th grade exam) and every 10 years thereafter.
3. Polio is given orally or by injection at 2 months, 4 months, 18 months, and 4-6 years.
4. MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) is given at 12-15 months and 4-6 years; reassessed and given is necessary at 11-12 years.
5. HiB (Haemophilis Influenzae-B) is given at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, and 15 months.
6. TB (Tuberculosis) screening is done at 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, and 14 years if risk is present (annual TB skin testing may be required if child is in pre-school or day care or if risk is present).
7. Hepatitis B vaccine is given at birth, 2 months, and 9 months; reassessed and given if necessary at 11-12 years.
8. Varicella (Chicken Pox) vaccine is given after 1 year of age; reassess and given as necessary at 11-12 years of age.
