US News Best Colleges 2011
Williams College, Williamstown, MA
Hypathway's Notes: US News & World Report has released its Best College Ranking for 2011. The fourth placement of Columbia University further substantiated the domination of eight Ivy League Colleges in the ranking, with all top four and six out of top ten from Ivies. Penn beats two technology-focused colleges Caltech and MIT is a sort of surprise and hard to justify. After US News ranked Caltech in the first place in 1998, they had never placed the Big Three (HYP) out of the top three again. There was a strong complain or protest from Stanford University President a few years ago on the bias that US News used in their ranking methodology, but that had a little if any effect on their practice. Washington University in St. Louis did pretty well this year by finishing up in the 13th place, one slot below last year. Here are the ranking for 2011.
