I have a pear tree in my backyard. It produces a lot pears that my family does not like the taste and texture of while it appears the squirrels enjoy very much. Each year as soon as the fruit starts showing its shape, the squirrels begin to visit the tree more often than any other time. The way they sit up to pick a pear from a twig, hold it between their tiny palms and quickly nibble on it makes me see exactly what their animated images in cartoon movies are. They would stop chewing between bites, staying still alertly before resuming eating. They can only chew on where their mouths can reach because of their inability of turning the pears, leaving a dozen scarred pears on the grass every day for bees to enjoy. They are such a adorable creature!
