Lady with an Ermine   ---   抱银貂的女子   ---   Cecilia Gallerani

这幅画背后的故事忒复杂了 比 蒙娜丽萨 还复杂多了

自己看吧 不介绍了~

Oil on wood panel -- Leonardo da Vinci

is a painting by Leonardo da Vinci, from around 1489–1490.

The subject of the portrait is identified as Cecilia Gallerani,

and was probably painted at a time when she was the mistress of

Lodovico Sforza, Duke of Milan,

and Leonardo was in the service of the Duke.

This work in particular shows Leonardo's expertise in painting the human form.

The outstretched hand of Cecilia was painted with great detail. Leonardo paints

every contour of each fingernail, each wrinkle around her knuckles,

and even the flexing of the tendon in her bent finger.

As in many of Leonardo's paintings, the composition comprises a pyramidic spiral

and the sitter is caught in the motion of turning to her left, reflecting Leonardo's

life-long preoccupation with the dynamics of movement. The three-quarter profile

portrait was one of his many innovations.

In 1491 when Cecilia was still only eighteen and

Ludovico had married Beatrice d'Este, she, the "lady with an ermine"  bore him a son.

A few years later she was married to a Count, but hung on to the portrait

until the imperious Isabella d'Este, Beatrice's sister,

required it of her. She died in 1436, in her early sixties,

a remarkable instance of survival.

Il Moro's court poet, Bernardo Bellincioni,

was the first to propose that Cecilia is poised

as if listening to an unseen speaker.

Portrait of Cecilia Gallerani

Leonardo da Vinci met Cecilia Gallerani in Milan in 1494

while both were living in Castello Sforzesco, the Palace of

Ludovico " Il Moro" Sforza. She was the Duke's mistress;

young and beautiful (she was only 15 years old), Cecilia

played music and wrote poetry. When he was commissioned

to paint her portrait in 1496, he represented her holding an

Ermine either because her name, Galle, means Ermine in Greek

or because Ludovico Sforza's emblem was "L'Ermellino"

When Ludovico Sforza married Isabella D'Este Cecilia had to leave

the Palace but took the portrait with her. Il Moro gave her a dowry

and a castle outside Milan where she spent the rest of her life

with her husband Count Pergamino.

He composed an effusive ode to Cecilia Gallerani,

the Lady with an Ermine in her portrait by Leonardo,

"the envy of Nature",[3] which has permitted

the identification of the sitter:

"She seems to listen and not talk."

Rends donc grace a ludovic.

--- Bernado Bellincioni, in 1493

English Version

Which arouses your anger? Who are you envious at, Nature?
Vinci, who represents one of your star!

Cecilia, now so beautiful
And your eyes are so lovely that pales the sun

The honor is for you, even if its table
It is he who gives the seemingly to be listening, not talking.

Remember that the longer it will remain alive and in-laws
The greater your glory - for centuries to come

So give thanks to Ludovic.
And the talent and the hand of Leonardo.
Who want to share it with the man of tomorrow.

All who will, even after his passing
Say, it does not take us longer
To understand the nature and what art is all about

==================

Leonardo had wriiten about ermines in his early period at the

Milanese court: "the ermine out of moderation never eats but

nce a day; it will rather let itself be taken by the hunters than take

efuge in a dirty lair, in order not to stain its purity."

I once saw a painting which deceived a dog by means of the likeness

of the painting to its master. The dog made a great fuss of it.

And in a similar way I have seen dogs barking and trying to bite

painted dogs, and a monkey who did an infinite number of stupid

things in front of a painted monkey. I have seen swallows fly and

perch on iron bars which have been painted as if they are projecting

in front of the windows of buildings.
