Our New Neighbors -- The Sparrow Family
There was a hole on the balcony outside our patio. I didn't pay attention to it and thought it was just a hole. But my husband said it was a sparrow nest and soon there would be some baby sparrows in it. So we kept waiting and were excited to meet the baby birds. Then one day we heard this baby birds singing like a choir and knew they were born! So my husband decided to shot some photos of this happy family and memorized this remarkable event.
However shotting these cautious birds was not an easy job because they are extremely alert. Just a tiny slow motion or an unnoticable sound could scare the grown-ups away and not to mention the new-borns. Therefore we closed our blinds of the window and hide our camera behind them for days. And finally we got these awesome pictures.
One interesting thing was we both were sure there was only two baby sparrows because we always saw two feeding by their parents! Then on June 27 when I was shotting the baby sparrows eagerly, I suprisingly discovered there was THREE of them!! So I kept taking shots and shots until I was finally satisfied. =^O^=
Having these cutie little sparrows as our neighborhood certainly gives us a lot of joy and talking points and we wish it could be last forever. However they are so big now and the nest has not enough room for three of them already. Besides they need to learn how to fly and feed themselves in order to survive. So they have already left us. But sometimes we can still hear the familiar bird singing around our neighborhood. And I can't stop thinking it's them coming back to visit us!
Here is Papa
and Mama.
The newborns, eyes still not open yet.
After just 10 days. Aren't they so cute?

Some more shots.
(The photos were taken between June 16 and 27 in 2006. And the journal was written somedays later. After 2 weeks, they were all gone for better lives.)
