No matter what you are going through in your life, know that there is good news in the midst of it: you have a Protector! The Bible tells us that greater is He that is in us than the enemy that is in the world! You may be going through a difficult time today, but know that the enemy only attacks those who are a threat to his kingdom. He knows your potential; and he knows that once you embrace who God has called you to be, you become unstoppable!
Our dear friend, Lisa Bevere, talks about this in her new book titled, Girls with Swords. But don't let the title fool you, it has some powerful lessons that men can apply to their lives as well.
Lisa begins the book by talking about a popular movie from the 1980's. In the movie, a young lady living a very ordinary and mundane existence suddenly finds herself the target of an assassin from the future. He's part human, part computer and has traveled through time to find her. He is on assignment. He's been programmed to take her out and nothing can deter him from his mission. At the same time that the assassin shows up in her life, her protector also arrives on the scene from the future to rescue her and defend her against the enemy's attacks. They escape the first onslaught and are on the run, but the young lady is understandably so confused. Everything's happened so fast. She can't imagine why anyone would want to harm her or why she's the target. Her protector explains that in the future, there is a great war, and she plays an important role against the enemy. Unable to stop her once her destiny has been fulfilled, the enemy has decided to prevent her from fulfilling her destiny in the first place.
Lisa writes in her book, "The enemy has already realized who you are. He knows your potential and is systematically trying to undermine your future. Lisa makes a great point: The attacks on your life have much more to do with who you might be in the future than who you have been in the past."
Today, I want to encourage you to fight the good fight of faith. While the enemy will probably not show up as a futuristic half-man, half-machine, he will show up in your thoughts. As the Bible says, the battle in your life is not against flesh and blood; it's against the forces of darkness, and the battlefield is your mind. The enemy will try to get you off course in your thinking. That's why it's so important to meditate on the Word of God and confess it daily. That's how you are strengthened. That's how you are protected. That's how you open the door for the Holy Spirit to move in your life. God's Word is your spiritual sword. So hold it tightly and use it to win the battle for your destiny!
