More than half of new cars sold in China are now electric or hybrid

New energy vehicles have outsold traditional fuel-powered passenger cars on a monthly basis, topping 50% for the first time, according to China Passenger Car Association data for July.
The reliability of the association’s data has been questioned in the past.
In the U.S., the penetration rate of new energy vehicles in the first quarter was 18%, the U.S. Energy Information Association said.
