92-year-old chews through robbery tape with his false choppers(December 30, 2010)
WASHINGTON - A 92-year-old Washington man is telling quite a story about a terrifying ordeal: how his false teeth came to his aid.
Lester Matteson opened his cabin door to strangers who pretended to have car trouble.
The men taped Lester's legs to his kitchen chair.
But after the thieves snatched his money and his truck, Lester chewed through the tape with his false teeth!
"It took me about two hours," Lester said with a grin. "Boy, it was sticky!"
Lester was then able to call the police.
The thieves stole more than 400 dollars. Worse, they tainted Lester's view of helping strangers.
Local police are still looking for the two robbers who stole Lester's money and Ford Ranger.
But Lester is smiling again now -- through those fake pearly whites that set him free.
That's because a local activist group gave him a check to replace his stolen money.
