当移民局收到你的申请之后，会寄给你一张的收据 (I-797C). 在收据的左上角有收据号码 (RECEIPT NUMBER)，是 3 个字母和 10 个数字的组合，分为 4 组，如：LIN-07-256-50001.
LIN 指明移民局服务中心
07 - Fiscal year (it's 08 beginning at 10/1/07)
256 - number of business days in the fiscal year
50001 - sequent number of the receipt
其它的移民局服务中心有：

MSC - Missouri Service Center
NBC - National Benefits Center (eg MSC)

如果还没有收到收据，但申请费被取走了，也可以从支票的背面获知 Receipt#.
先去银行下载 canceled check 的 image，存到自己的计算机里。然后仔细辨认支票背面的东东。你应该看到类似于下面的 5 行，排列得非常整齐：
如上：收据日期是 9/22/2006，收据号码是 LIN0627052000.
我的申请已经交了Ｘ天／周／月了，没有任何收据，支票也没有清掉，怎么查询？
－－这是最无助的阶段，没有任何办法。你既无法查询，也不能取消申请。
取消支票不是取消申请之途（详）。
我可以再交一份申请吗？
－－当然，either paper filing or e-filing.
重交一份申请也不意味着取消前面的申请，除了再交一份申请费（除非是免费的）之外，其处理也不会比上一份申请要快，－ FIFO.
撤消一份申请，能够要求退费吗？
－－Mission impossible.
如果信差显示申请已寄达移民局，大可高枕了。移民局的处理有时候是极慢，但丢申请的情况倒是少有。
有了收据号码，你就可以在移民局网站查其状态。
这个状态是指该申请的当前状态，显示处理过程中的不同阶段。在状态更新之后，以前的状态就消失无踪了。
在注册之后，你还可以进入帐户查看 LUD (Last Update Date). LUD 只是提供一个可能更新一点的日期，而申请状态是不变的。故有人称之为 Soft Update.
我的 LUD 更新了日期，有什么含义？
除了网上查，你还可以通过 (800) 375-5283 电话。
收据号中的 LIN 就是直接按 5-4-6，因为 "L" 在话机键上对应 "5" 键，"I" 是 "4"，"N" 是 "6".
如果你的支票是交的 I-140 的费，而背面的收据号查出来的却是 EAD 的状态，那么你可能是辨认号码有误，或是移民局盖错了章。只好等正式的收据了，来解开这个迷。
有的时候，你都收到了移民局邮寄的书面通知，而在线状态还没有更新或有误。这并不影响你手中的 USCIS 文件的法律效果。请清楚，在线状态（及你收到的 email）是供做参考用的，没有法律效应，会可能有失误发生；你收到的 paper 通知才算数。
就象签署的文书中，手写的部分比打印部分级别高一样，你应该更信赖收到的移民局的通知书，而不仅仅只是 online status, email or SMS etc.
另外，MSC 开头的申请，有不是没有上网，就是经常不及时更新的问题。你会收到这样的信息。

Validation Error(s)

与 case status 相关的还有一个 Processing Date. 即一份交到移民局的申请，所需要的处理时间。
每隔一段时间，USCIS 就会在网站公布其信息。如下，出自 3/15/08 NSC 的。
这个 Processing Date 的意思是说，在 3/15/08 时，NSC 已经处理完了 June 08, 2007 收到的 EB 的 I-485.
有的申请的 Processing Timeframe 不象上面一样列的是日期，而是期间，如 2 Weeks、3 Months，你肯定明白这是什么意思。
日期是指 Notice Date 为 6/8/07, 准确地说是 Receipt Date.
移民局的信上怎么找不到这个 Receipt Date?
Receipt Date 在 Receipt Notice 上是 Notice Date, 尔后的文件上是指 Received Date.
对于一份提交到移民局的申请，牵扯有不同的日期，主要的有 Received Date, Notice Date, Approval Date. 详见关于＂日期＂的讨论。
移民局虽然是在 Received Date 接到了你的申请，但没有进入系统，是一无用处的。当你的申请于 Notice Date 进入系统，就正式进入了排队的 queue.
有的同学的申请在中心之间转来转去，那么在新的中心的排队，是 Transfer Date 还是 Received Date 算数？应该是原来的 RD 才公平合理。
但是，有同学在上述情况下联系移民局，却被告知要按新中心收到的日期重新排。不知是接线员的误识，还是移民局的操作 practice.
在 6/15/08 的 NSC 的处理日期公布中，有如下陈述 "The processing times shown below are for applications that have just been completed"。这样，应该是处理日期之前的申请都已经处理完毕。所有在处理日期之前提交的申请，都应该能够在 online status 中查到申请结果。
在以前的处理日期公布中，没有留意到移民局对处理日期有上述清楚的解释。
根据以往的经验，处理日期是估计的，并不意味着处理日期之前的申请都已经处理完毕，也不意味着之后的申请就一定不会处理。只起个大概齐儿的参考作用，没有任何的法律意义，也不做任何的保证。
正是因此，同学们过去也看到过处理日期的 retrogression. 那是因为 USCIS 希望处理完公布的处理日期之前的申请的愿望，没有达标。
过去同学们在自己的申请日期过了公布的处理日期之后，去联络移民局，得到的答案大都是：等到过了处理日期一个月之后，再联络移民局要求 service request.
过一个月，说的是原公布日期发布一个月之后，还是说等到新的公布日期是自己申请日期之后一个月，理解各异。
那时候移民局对处理日期没有清晰的定义。现在应该没有了歧义，只要申请日期过了公布的处理日期，就可以要求处理。
虽然申请人可以联系移民局请求处理 pending 的申请，移民局是否会闻风而动那却是另外的故事。有同学担心，移民局会不会因此在我的申请上做手脚。多虑了。

当移民局收到你的申请之后，会寄给你一张的收据 (I-797C). 在收据的左上角有收据号码 (RECEIPT NUMBER)，是 3 个字母和 10 个数字的组合，分为 4 组，如：LIN-07-256-50001.
LIN 指明移民局服务中心
07 - Fiscal year (it's 08 beginning at 10/1/07)
256 - number of business days in the fiscal year
50001 - sequent number of the receipt

如果还没有收到收据，但申请费被取走了，也可以从支票的背面获知 Receipt#.
先去银行下载 canceled check 的 image，存到自己的计算机里。然后仔细辨认支票背面的东东。你应该看到类似于下面的 5 行，排列得非常整齐：
For Credit to U.S. Treasury DOJ/USCIS X9 152303711393 092206 LINHMV01 70-01-0103 ---------------------------- LIN0627052000最后一行红颜色的就是 Receipt Number, 其上的黑体为 Notice Date.
如上：收据日期是 9/22/2006，收据号码是 LIN0627052000.
我的申请已经交了Ｘ天／周／月了，没有任何收据，支票也没有清掉，怎么查询？
－－这是最无助的阶段，没有任何办法。你既无法查询，也不能取消申请。
取消支票不是取消申请之途（详）。
我可以再交一份申请吗？
－－当然，either paper filing or e-filing.
重交一份申请也不意味着取消前面的申请，除了再交一份申请费（除非是免费的）之外，其处理也不会比上一份申请要快，－ FIFO.
撤消一份申请，能够要求退费吗？
－－Mission impossible.
如果信差显示申请已寄达移民局，大可高枕了。移民局的处理有时候是极慢，但丢申请的情况倒是少有。
有了收据号码，你就可以在移民局网站查其状态。
这个状态是指该申请的当前状态，显示处理过程中的不同阶段。在状态更新之后，以前的状态就消失无踪了。
在注册之后，你还可以进入帐户查看 LUD (Last Update Date). LUD 只是提供一个可能更新一点的日期，而申请状态是不变的。故有人称之为 Soft Update.
我的 LUD 更新了日期，有什么含义？
除了网上查，你还可以通过 (800) 375-5283 电话。
收据号中的 LIN 就是直接按 5-4-6，因为 "L" 在话机键上对应 "5" 键，"I" 是 "4"，"N" 是 "6".
如果你的支票是交的 I-140 的费，而背面的收据号查出来的却是 EAD 的状态，那么你可能是辨认号码有误，或是移民局盖错了章。只好等正式的收据了，来解开这个迷。
有的时候，你都收到了移民局邮寄的书面通知，而在线状态还没有更新或有误。这并不影响你手中的 USCIS 文件的法律效果。请清楚，在线状态（及你收到的 email）是供做参考用的，没有法律效应，会可能有失误发生；你收到的 paper 通知才算数。
就象签署的文书中，手写的部分比打印部分级别高一样，你应该更信赖收到的移民局的通知书，而不仅仅只是 online status, email or SMS etc.
另外，MSC 开头的申请，有不是没有上网，就是经常不及时更新的问题。你会收到这样的信息。

这个 Processing Date 的意思是说，在 3/15/08 时，NSC 已经处理完了 June 08, 2007 收到的 EB 的 I-485.
有的申请的 Processing Timeframe 不象上面一样列的是日期，而是期间，如 2 Weeks、3 Months，你肯定明白这是什么意思。
日期是指 Notice Date 为 6/8/07, 准确地说是 Receipt Date.
移民局的信上怎么找不到这个 Receipt Date?
Receipt Date 在 Receipt Notice 上是 Notice Date, 尔后的文件上是指 Received Date.
对于一份提交到移民局的申请，牵扯有不同的日期，主要的有 Received Date, Notice Date, Approval Date. 详见关于＂日期＂的讨论。
移民局虽然是在 Received Date 接到了你的申请，但没有进入系统，是一无用处的。当你的申请于 Notice Date 进入系统，就正式进入了排队的 queue.
有的同学的申请在中心之间转来转去，那么在新的中心的排队，是 Transfer Date 还是 Received Date 算数？应该是原来的 RD 才公平合理。
但是，有同学在上述情况下联系移民局，却被告知要按新中心收到的日期重新排。不知是接线员的误识，还是移民局的操作 practice.
在 6/15/08 的 NSC 的处理日期公布中，有如下陈述 "The processing times shown below are for applications that have just been completed"。这样，应该是处理日期之前的申请都已经处理完毕。所有在处理日期之前提交的申请，都应该能够在 online status 中查到申请结果。
在以前的处理日期公布中，没有留意到移民局对处理日期有上述清楚的解释。
根据以往的经验，处理日期是估计的，并不意味着处理日期之前的申请都已经处理完毕，也不意味着之后的申请就一定不会处理。只起个大概齐儿的参考作用，没有任何的法律意义，也不做任何的保证。
正是因此，同学们过去也看到过处理日期的 retrogression. 那是因为 USCIS 希望处理完公布的处理日期之前的申请的愿望，没有达标。
过去同学们在自己的申请日期过了公布的处理日期之后，去联络移民局，得到的答案大都是：等到过了处理日期一个月之后，再联络移民局要求 service request.
过一个月，说的是原公布日期发布一个月之后，还是说等到新的公布日期是自己申请日期之后一个月，理解各异。
那时候移民局对处理日期没有清晰的定义。现在应该没有了歧义，只要申请日期过了公布的处理日期，就可以要求处理。
虽然申请人可以联系移民局请求处理 pending 的申请，移民局是否会闻风而动那却是另外的故事。有同学担心，移民局会不会因此在我的申请上做手脚。多虑了。
如果我们以后看不到处理日期的倒退，那么处理日期的公布就有更大的可靠性，及参考性。
