Today was our last day in Taiwan, and we planned to go to Jiufen (九份) in the morning and Danshui (淡水) in the afternoon. Jiufen is a mountain town. I faintly remembered reading about it in guide books before coming to Taiwan, saying Jiufen represents Taiwan of the old days. To go to Jiufen, we took a train to Rueifang (60 TWD/person, that is $2 for one hour ride, how cheap!), then took a taxi to Jiufen (180 TWD set price).
1. Even though it was still early, Jiufen Old Street was packed with people.
2. There were so many tasty food, I didn't know what to pick!
3. Anything you buy, for example 20 TWD for a duck gizzard, the seller would cut it into bite size, put it in a food bag, and give you several bamboo sticks, you could walk and eat at the same time. How convenient!
4. Jiufen.
5. Jiufen.
6. Jiufen.
7. Jiufen.
8. Jiufen.
9. Just like in Taipei, you can find temple build right next to houses in Jiufen.
10. Jiufen.
11. Jiufen.
12. One last look of Jiufen.
After getting back to Taipei, we took MRT to Danshui. Danshui used to be a fishing village, but now connected to Taipei by MRT, it is more like an extension of Taipei. There were many food vendors along the waterfront. I highly recommend the freshly squeezed local orange juice (柳丁汁, 35 TWD/cup).
