Margaret Chan became the first Chinese national to be elected as a heard of a specialized U.N. body when she
won the position of chief of the World Health Organization.
Of course, the Chinese government, Macao and Hong Kong are delighted to have one of their own in such a high profile position.
The position is a five-year one and Chan, 59, takes over from Acting director Nordstrom of Sweden who stepped in after South Korean Dr. Lee died suddenly.
