On the way home from daycare last Thursday, Evan told me that he wanted to be a doctor when he grew up.
“Oh, really? Why do you want to be a doctor?” I was curious as this got to be the most orthodox profession that my kids had mentioned to me and it was from Evan?
“Because my teacher said I wanted to be a doctor.” He answered.
“Ohhhh (no wonder:))...so do you want to be a doctor because you can help people and save lives?” I prompted him.
“Yeah. But mom, what do you want to be when you already grow up?” he asked.
I kept the laugh to myself. “Well, mom makes medicines. I give the medicines to doctors like you to help people, isn’t that cool?”
“Yes.”
“What else do you want to be?” I was still curious.
“A king.”
“Wow, why do you want to be a king?”
“Because I want to live in a castle. Mom, where is the castle that I can live?”
“Hmm..., I don’t know, they have a lot of them in
“And I want Olivia to be the Queen.”
“Hmm…that would be a problem, honey. See, Olivia can not be the Queen as the Queen has to be married to the King and you and Olivia are brother and sister, you can not be married to her. But you can marry Eileen (his best friend) and Eileen can be the Queen. How about that?”
“No! We can marry! I want to marry Olivia and I want her to be the Queen!” he was so upset by what I said that he even started to cry. I guess right now marriage is just too hard of a concept for him to understand.
“Okay, okay, you can marry her, okay? Now stop crying please.” I gave it up.
A little while later, he mentioned to me that he also wanted to be a “magicianer” so he could just finger point something and that thing would move. And he wanted to be a pop corn helper too.
“A pop corn helper? What is that?” I asked.
“I will give pop corn to people, you know, in the movie theater.” He explained.
Hmm...okay, if that's what you want:)
